Hey All, I just joined as I ran across this forum while doing some research on the bridges up there in the Daytona area. I am moving up there for the summer as my boyfriend goes to Wyotech. On my visits up there have learned that most of those bridges that connect the beach to the mainland are super scary to go over on a scooter.
Main street and Orange Ave bridges I can handle, but the others, ack, totally scares the crap out of me, so I will obviously be using those when I want to get to the mainland. But what if I want to go check out the beach side in Port Orange and New Symrna - I know A1A doesn't go that far because of Ponce Inlet so I'll have to go over a bridge to get into the mainland of those cities and then another bridge to get to the beach side. Any recommendations on the least scary ones to ride over?
Thanks, Robyn

I only see two ways to get to the beach south of Ponce Inlet. The north and south cause ways in New Smyrna on 44. Just don't think of the bridges as being scary, think of them as an adventure ... something to be conquered!

As for NSB, The Flagler Causeway (NORTH) would be better for a scooter than the SR44 (SOUTH) causeway. I have never done either of them on a scoot, but its just what i would recommend.

What about the bridges bother you ? Wind// Height// The type of material the road base is made of?
